How can therapy help me? This is a common question. When people think of treatment for health conditions they don’t always think of psychology or therapy. Going to therapy for difficulties with your physical health does not mean that this is all in “your head.” Many health conditions can limit people’s lives by making it more difficult to engage in their recreational activities, physical activities, difficulty sleeping, increased irritability, experience a depression and anxiety, and strain relationships. Therapy can help you learn skills to better manage these issues.
Do you offer in person appointments? Not at this time. As of now, I only offer virtual appointments. No need to drive to an office—I can see you in the comfort of your own home! If you struggle with technology, I am happy to show you how to do it. I promise it is easier than it sounds!
How long is treatment? Most treatments are 6-12 sessions long. In your appointment, we will discuss treatment options and an estimated amount of treatment length. Sometimes people need a little more and sometimes a little less. Like people, therapy is unique therefore, treatment plans will vary person to person.
Do we have to meet every week and for how long? At the start of treatment I recommend weekly or biweekly appointments. Again everyone is unique and some people may need more regular appointments where as others prefer more spaced out appointments. Depending on your life circumstances, we can discuss which option will be most helpful to you.
Do you offer therapy in Spanish? Yes! Si! Ofrezco servicios en español.
Can I see you for other issues besides difficulty with my physical health? After discussing your needs, I am happy to refer you to a therapist if I’m not the right fit. Therapy is all about finding someone who matches your needs!
What will I learn? Regardless of the treatment option we decide on, the first part of treatment will include education and understanding how the mind and the body are connected. This foundational education will allow you to better understand the benefit of the skills learned in therapy. We will also discuss how to begin making these changes in your every day life. Change is hard and it can be achievable by making a safe and sustainable plan.
Do these treatments work? I only used Evidenced Based Treatments (EBTs). These treatments have been researched over 30+ years and have been found to be effective treatments and enhancing quality of life.
